Experience
the Point had the chance to check out the progress on Cedar Point's
new-for-2003 thrill ride. Below is the main points (We regret that no
photos can be posted - we shoot several photos but they were ruined in
the development process):
-
Tower's
height: The tower now stands well over 300 feet, and taller than
any other structure at Cedar Point. Our best guess for height is
around 350 feet.
-
Construction
was really picking up near the Power Tower end of the site, as
numerous new (since closing day) footers have appeared.
-
The
staging yard (Soak City parking lot) for the new ride is virtually
empty except for some construction equipment.
-
Parts
of the launch track have been installed
-
The
colors of the new ride seem to work with each other quite well.
-
The
new ride truly looms over the whole park and the twist on the
"down side" of the tower looks incredible.
-
Schwabinchen
now sits, in pieces, in the main parking lot near Demon Drop,
though the lady was no where to be found...
-
Wildcat
received a paint job. Now the colors are fluorescent green
(structure)
and purple track. The colors make the ride look
"wild"... Word is that Mantis will be repainted.
Again,
we regret that no photos could be posted, but this is just the
second of many off-season updates.
